USA presenting Telly Awards to TV programs

The children's show "Sisimpur" has received the International Telly Awards, in addition to the Kidscreen and Anthem awards.

"Sisimpur" won the 45th Telly Awards for introducing the new character Julia and using sign language in its most recent episodes, contributing to beneficial social change.

According to a media statement from “Sisimpur”, this popular series for Bangladeshi children has won three important prizes in less than three years.

Mohammad Shah Alam, the managing director of Sesame Workshop Bangladesh, expressed his joy and said: "This is unquestionably extremely good news. The Telly Award is a highly distinguished award, and earning it is a matter of great pride. This accomplishment will serve as a wonderful inspiration for our future work.

“Sesame Workshop Bangladesh has been implementing the “Sisimpur” program for 19 years, with the goal of making pre-primary education and early childhood development vibrant, joyous, and exciting,” he added.

He further said: "I believe, this award is not solely ours to celebrate. Our production and broadcast partners, writers, artists, puppeteers, crew, and all of our country's children are all involved. Without their participation and support, this accomplishment would not have been possible."

Since 1979, the USA has been presenting the Telly Awards to TV programs from various countries around the world.

This prestigious award aims to contribute to positive change in society and the world through meaningful work in visual media.

This year, almost 13,000 programs from over 50 countries applied for the award.

In addition to “Sisimpur” from Bangladesh, other renowned companies that received the prize include Newsweek magazine, LinkedIn, Al Jazeera, Disney, Pepsi Foundation, NBC Television, National Geographic, Sky News, NASA Television, Clinton Foundation, Walmart, and Warner Brothers.

In 2022, “Sisimpur” received the prestigious Kidscreen Award for Children. In January 2024, it earned the prestigious Anthem Award.

“Sisimpur” was named the finest children's show in Bangladesh and the third most popular overall by BBC World Service Trust survey in 2010.

Since 2005, the Bangladeshi version of Sesame Street, known as “Sisimpur”, has been dedicated to early childhood development with the goal of "empowering children to become more complete, resilient, and compassionate."

This popular Bangladeshi children's series is being created with financial assistance from USAID.
