‘DB is keen to work across the country’
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) chief Additional Commissioner Mohammad Harunor Rashid has said that Dhaka's DB now captures overseas murderers, it is a new dynamic.
He said this in the speech of the special guest at the roundtable meeting organized by Telecom and Technology Reporters Network Bangladesh (TRNB) titled "Challenges and Prospects in Mobile Phone Production in the Country" at the Directorate of Telecommunication in Tejgaon, capital, on Thursday.
Harunor Rashid said: "When we arrest motorcycle, mobile phone and laptop thieves from districts around Dhaka including Narayanganj, and Gazipur, they say, sir, we stay outside Dhaka because of your fear."
“Their idea is that DB will work only in Dhaka. Now that the DB of Dhaka caught the murderer in India, even if he fled to Oman, we brought him back,” he added.
DB chief said: “DB is keen to work across the country against those who spread illegal mobile phones in the country. If we get cooperation from the concerned sector, be it inside or outside Dhaka - we will detain the criminals.”
“We often see huge quantities of mobile phones entering the country through baggage parties at airports. They are being brought to the country at a lower price by evading the revenue,” he added.
