NBR seeks bank details of S Alam, family members

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has sought details of the bank accounts of widely criticized industrialist Mohammad Saiful Alam, popularly known as S Alam, and his family members.

In a letter issued on Wednesday, the Tax Zone-15 of the revenue board asked 91 banks and non-bank financial institutions to provide details of accounts of S Alam's wife Farzana Parvin, mother Chemon Ara Begum, and brother Abdullah Hasan.

Along with this, the banks were asked to provide details of accounts held jointly or in the name of their parents, spouse, children, or siblings, as well as accounts in the name of any business entity they are associated with.

Apart from this, credit card information in their name has also been sought.

There are allegations of various unethical activities including money laundering against the S Alam industrial group.

S Alam's wife Farzana Parin, brother Abdullah Hasan is the director of S Alam Luxury Chair Coach Service, S Alam Cold Rolled Steel Limited respectively. S Alam's mother Chemon Ara Begum is the director of A Alam Luxury Chair Coach Service.
