Identity confirmed through DNA profiling
The body of journalist Brishty Khatun, identified through DNA profiling, was handed over to her father Sabuj Sheikh after 11 days since the fire incident on Bailey Road on Monday afternoon.
Sabuj Sheikh expressed gratitude, saying: "The truth has been established, I am her father. I received the body today (Monday), and I will take her to the village house. There, she will be buried in the family cemetery following namaz-e-janaza according to the Islamic Shari'a."
Addressing the confusion regarding religion, Brishty's father said: "People become Hindus if they go to Hindu events. Many have become Hindus because they attend Hindu ceremonies."
Brishty Khatun was the eldest among his three girls, and her father mentioned that she would be buried in the Bangram family cemetery at Khoksa upazila in Kushtia.
Additional DIG of Dhaka Metro CID Md Jahangir Hossain Matubbar said that her identity was confirmed through DNA profiling on Sunday following the court's order.
In response to questions from journalists, he mentioned that the girl had worked under the name Abhishruti Shastri in various places, leading to initial confusion.
However, after clarification, they wrote to the police station to hand over the body to the parents.
Ramna police station Deputy Inspector (SI) Habibur Rahman was present during this process.
After completing various procedures, at 2:55pm, Brishty's father took her body to the village home in an ambulance.
