There are no plans to change the national anthem of Bangladesh, Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain has said.

“The interim government will not do anything to create controversy,” he told journalists after visiting the Islamic Foundation in Rajshahi and attending a gathering of dignitaries on Saturday morning.

He added that as a neighboring country, Bangladesh wants a friendly relationship with India. “We have heard reports of attacks on our cricket team in India. Since the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in charge, they will decide on the necessary course of action.”

Regarding attacks on mosques, temples, and shrines, he said those are heinous acts. “Those who attack places of worship are enemies of humanity. They are criminals, and they will be prosecuted under existing laws.”

AFM Khalid Hossain further announced that during Durga Puja, local citizens, along with madrasa students, will be involved in guarding the temples to prevent any kind of attack or sabotage. “Madrasa students were never involved in terrorism, and that was propaganda and conspiracy by the previous government.”

The adviser further added that after the change in government, there have been attacks on the houses of some members of the Hindu community, just as there have been on Muslim houses. This should not be viewed differently.
