Commander Arafat becomes new RAB spokesperson

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has appointed Commander Arafat Islam as the new director of the Legal and Media Wing, succeeding Commander Khandaker Al Moin.

Commander Arafat officially assumed his new role on Wednesday, as confirmed by Senior Assistant Director ASP ANM Imran Khan of RAB's Law and Media Wing.

Commander Arafat, a seasoned officer of the Bangladesh Navy, began his military career as an officer cadet with the 35th BMA Long Course in 1995. He was commissioned in the executive branch on July 1, 1997, and joined RAB on December 26, 2022. He served as the captain of RAB-13 from January 20, 2023, until April 23 of this year.

ASP ANM Imran Khan highlighted Commander Arafat's distinguished service, noting his tenure as deputy director of RAB-4 and RAB-5 from 2007 to 2009.

Additionally, Commander Arafat contributed significantly to the Bangladesh Coast Guard, where he demonstrated exceptional efficiency.

His exemplary service extended to international missions, including deployments in the United Nations Peacekeeping Missions in Lebanon and South Sudan.

In recognition of his professional excellence, Commander Arafat was honoured with the Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM), Navy Medal of Excellence (NUP) from the Bangladesh Navy, and President Coast Guard Medal (PCGM) from the Coast Guard during his tenure with RAB.

Furthermore, he received accolades such as the Admiral's Commendation and the Force Commander's Commendation from the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission.
