Asif Nazrul, the law adviser to the interim government, has alleged that those who posed as Ansar members during recent unrest had no legitimate demands, but rather aimed to create chaos.

He made the remarks while visiting students injured by Ansar members at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday.

"We are deeply saddened by yesterday's (Sunday) events. You saw the stockpile of sticks they had. We witnessed how they attacked the students," Asif Nazrul said. "Hasnat Abdullah, a key coordinator of the Students Against Discrimination movement, who was injured, is now recovering. Two pedestrians were also injured."

He expressed concern over the brutality faced by students, who he described as the nation's future.

"The students, who have previously toppled dictatorships and are the embodiment of our dreams, were thrown onto the streets and faced brutal violence. Their demand was for nationalization to be announced by 10pm," he said.

Asif Nazrul praised the resilience of the students, who he said made significant sacrifices to handle the situation.

He assured that those behind the unrest would not succeed and that action would be taken according to the law.

He also urged patience among those protesting for justice: "I ask those leading the movement to consider whether 17 years of discrimination and exploitation can be corrected in just 17 days. We come from the people, not as representatives of any party. We will work to ensure that everyone's interests are protected, but this will take time."
