BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that reforms would only be meaningful with public participation and emphasized that this should occur within a parliamentary framework, necessitating elections.
He said this as the chief guest at the Bangladesh Youth Parliament 2024, held at the Supreme Court premises on Saturday.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said: “The interim government has accomplished much within three months. This government needs time. It has formed several commissions for reforms and taken steps to bring fascist elements to justice. We cannot let this opportunity slip away.”
The BNP Secretary General further said: “Due to various negative remarks, fascists are finding opportunities to conspire, and some media outlets are promoting this. This must be stopped. The country needs to harness the experience of the elderly combined with the energy and courage of the youth.”
He said, “This government needs time. We have entrusted them with responsibility. Some in the media fail to see any achievements. Everything cannot be done at once. I urge the youth to be patient.”
