A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Narayanganj City Corporation mayor of Dr Selina Hayat Ivy over allegations of corruption.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain passed the order on November 6 accepting a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Court Inspector Amir Hossain said.
ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Neyamul Ahsan Gazi filed the plea requesting the imposition of a travel ban on the former Narayanganj mayor.
The anti-graft body in its plea said they are probing allegations of misusing power, amassing illegal wealth through corruption and irregularities, among others, against Ivy.
"She may try to flee the country to evade justice. Travel ban should be imposed on her to stop her from fleeing the country," the petitioner said.
