Most factories in the industrial areas of Savar and Ashulia are open as workers have been working peacefully since Sunday morning.

However, 19 factories in Savar-Ashulia zone remain closed due to inability to pay wages, lack of work, and recent unrest in the Ashulia industrial area.

Ashulia Industrial Police-1 reported that 15 factories in Savar and Ashulia are closed under Section 13(1) of the Bangladesh Labor Act, 2006, as of Saturday. Four factories are observing a general holiday.

To ensure security in the industrial area, the army, police, RAB, and BGB personnel have been deployed.

As of Sunday morning, no reports of untoward incidents have been received from any part of the industrial zone.

Md Sarwar Alam, superintendent of solice for Industrial Police-1, said: "The overall situation remains stable.”

He said that most of the closed factories are garment factories, though there are also some other production facilities. Workers in the open factories are working peacefully, and no untoward incidents have been reported anywhere.
