Parliamentary body recommends filling up vacant govt post quickly

370,447 posts vacant in ministries
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Public Administration has recommended taking quick steps to fill up vacant posts in government offices.
A press release said that the parliamentary watchdog made the recommendation at its 2nd meeting at the National Parliament with committee Chairman Muhammed Sadique in the chair.
In the meeting, the committee suggested taking quick action by selecting the ministries/departments as per the importance of filling the approved and vacant posts of the Ministry of Public Administration and other ministries/departments and subordinate institutions.
It was informed in the meeting that currently 1,546,072 out of 1,916,519 approved posts of 58 ministries/departments have been filled while 370,447 posts are vacant.
They also recommended taking quick action to fill up the vacancies (grade 13-20) which are appointed by holding inter-ministerial meetings under the ministry.
Committee members Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain, Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury, Dr Shri Biren Sikder, Meher Afroze, Sharif Ahmed, Motaherul Islam Chowdhury, Shahdab Akbar, Md Asaduzzaman Asad and Shah Sarwar Kabir attended the meeting, among others, the release added.
