127,298 Bangladeshis in Hajj quota for 2024

10,198 people can perform Hajj under government management


A total of 127,298 Bangladeshis will be able to perform Hajj this year, 

Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia on Sunday signed a bilateral Hajj agreement in Jeddah in this regard. 

According to the agreement, 10,198 Hajj pilgrims will be able to perform Hajj under government management while the rest under private management.

Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Md Hamid Jamaddar accompanied by Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) president M Shahadat Hossain, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Religion (Hajj) Motiul Islam, Hajj Office Director Saiful Islam, Hajj Counselor Zahirul Islam, Consul Aslam Uddin signed the Bilateral Hajj Agreement 2024 with Deputy Minister of Saudi Hajj and Umrah Ministry Abdul Fattah bin Sulaiman Mashat. 

During the meeting, both Dhaka and Riyadh pledged to reduce all sorts of problems to secure hassle-free Hajj programs. 

In the meeting, the HAAB president cordially requested the Saudi Deputy Minister to maintain all the agencies as in other years without reducing the number of Hajj agencies.

He also requested the development of Hajj pilgrims' luggage transportation and management, the development of tent management at Mina Arafat, and the delivery of tents to the agency 10 days before Hajj.

Representatives of the Saudi Hajj ministry have assured to consider HAAB's request.

According to HAAB, a package for performing Hajj under private management this year has been fixed at a minimum cost of Tk5,89,800.

Under the government management, the general package will cost Tk578,840 per person and the specialized one Tk9,36,320 per person.
