Attack on chief justice's residence unprecedented


Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the BNP had initiated the attack to create fear in people's minds, clashes were initiated from the morning before the rally began.

“BNP accuses that their rally was foiled. But this acquisition appears to be politically motivated,” he made the remark on Saturday.

Regarding the attack on the chief justice's house, he said: "The assault on the chief justice's residence is an unparalleled incident. Strict measures will be taken against those responsible for this attack."

Before the scheduled commencement of the rally, BNP workers abruptly initiated attacks, contrary to their commitment. Around 1pm, they assaulted the chief justice's residence. Later, clashes progressively extended to various parts of the capital, including Kakrail, Paltan, Shantinagar, and Arambagh.

Later, clashes erupted in various locations, spanning from Kakrail, Segun Bagicha, the High Court area, Paltan, to Bijoynagar. The slain policeman has been identified as Parvez. He was injured in Bijoynagar area. 

At least 40 individuals, comprising pedestrians, journalists, and police, have received treatment in the clashes in Nayapaltan and the adjacent areas.
