Education minister denounces propaganda surrounding new curriculum

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Monday said some coaching centres, Facebook accounts and individuals with anti-government leanings were spreading propaganda about the new curriculum to mislead students and their parents. 

Speaking at an event, the minister suggested that these actors were resorting to false narratives regarding textbook content, with the intent of undermining the government, especially as the general election draws near.

Dipu Moni emphasized that the government's introduction of the new curriculum was aimed at bringing about positive changes in the education standards and nurturing a skilled workforce.

“The group incited sectarianism through textbook [contents] in January; they do not want our children to grow up as free thinkers." 

Dipu Moni urged parents to ignore any propaganda about the new curriculum, before responding to a query,  noting that the government was actively conducting awareness campaigns and providing teachers with training to ensure the successful implementation of the curriculum.
