Govt sets date prices for Ramadan

The Ministry of Commerce has updated the wholesale prices for both low-grade as well as popular Zahidi dates for this Ramadan.

The price range for ordinary or low-quality dates has been fixed at Tk150 to Tk165 per kilogram and the Zahidi variety between Tk170 to Tk180.

The ministry in a press release on Tuesday said the prices had been determined considering factors such as imported prices, duties, taxes and other associated expenses. 

The ministry emphasized the need for wholesalers to adhere to these prices and instructed them to make necessary arrangements accordingly.

State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu emphasized that the pricing structure had been formulated with the welfare of the general public in mind. However, the ministry did not provide specific pricing guidelines for premium or high-end dates.
