Cyber monitoring intensified to curb rumours on garment sector

Public encouraged to report suspicious activity
Law enforcement agencies are actively engaged in preventing the dissemination of false information about the garment industry to deter any potential violence, conflicts, or sabotage attempts.
Recent clashes and vandalism in the capital and its vicinity were fuelled by various rumours and demands for salary hikes, leading to attacks on garment factories and other properties.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of the Law and Media Branch of RAB, on Sunday emphasized RAB's efforts to maintain law and order. Coordination with relevant parties is ongoing to prevent any destabilization in the garment sector.
The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity promptly to law enforcement. Additionally, rigorous cyber monitoring measures have been put in place to counter the spread of rumours, he added.
Mahbubur Rahman, additional inspector general of Police and chief of Industrial Police, outlined ongoing efforts to prevent the exploitation of the garment sector's situation for malicious purposes. Immediate action is taken upon receiving information, and investigations are underway to identify individuals involved in attacks or clashes.
Mirpur Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mohsin confirmed the participation of individuals, clarifying them as not workers, in clashes and vandalism in Mirpur and Pallabi areas. Efforts are being made to identify these individuals and bring them to justice.
