Former commerce minister Tipu Munshi has been sent on a four-day remand in a case filed in connection with the murder of Sumon Sikder in the capital’s Badda.

After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider granted a 4-day remand.

Police produced him before the court on Thursday and sought permission to interrogate him for eight days but the court granted four days after a hearing.

The Rapid Action Battalion arrested former commerce minister Tipu Munshi from Gulshan in the capital on Wednesday night.

RAB Legal and Media Wing Senior Assistant Director Senior ASP ANM Imran Khan said Tipu had been arrested in connection with the killing of goldsmith Muslim Uddin Milon, 38, shot dead during the recent student movement in Rangpur.

Dilruba Akter, Milon’s wife, filed the case on Tuesday afternoon at a Rangpur court against 17 individuals, including former speaker of parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury and Tipu Munshi.
