New system will be implemented starting with 2026 SSC examination

Under the new curriculum, students who fail up to two subjects in the 2026 SSC examination can still gain admission to college.

These students will have to pass the failed subjects by participating in public assessments within the next two years.

This information is detailed in the report "Evaluation Strategy and Implementation Guidelines for National Curriculum 2022," prepared by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).

The Curriculum Development and Revision Core Committee approved the decision on Tuesday.

The report will be finalized in the National Curriculum Coordination Committee (NCCC) meeting following the NCTB board meeting.

According to the report, the new system will be implemented starting with the 2026 SSC examination, scheduled for December of that year, which will cover only Class 10 textbooks.

Under this new rule, students who fail one or two subjects in the SSC examination will still be eligible to enrol in eleventh grade. They must pass the failed subjects within two years by participating in public assessments.
