The land depression now lies over Sylhet


Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur across Bangladesh.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, at a few places over Rangpur and Barisal divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions", according to weather forecast by Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) for next 24 hours commencing 9am on Tuesday.

The land depression over Manikganj and the adjoining area moved northeastwards and now lies over Sylhet and the adjoining area. 

It is likely move northeastwards further and weaken gradually by giving precipitation. A steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay.

Day temperature may rise by 1-3°C and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

The country's highest temperature on Monday was recorded 33.4°C in Tetulia and the minimum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 24°C jointly in Tangail and Bandarban.

Maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am on Tuesday was recorded at 257mm in Chandpur.
