Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal today said the commission does not want any deputy commissioner to work in a biased manner.
Speaking to reporters at the EC office in the capital's Agargaon, he said the commission will definitely take necessary action if the action or work of any DC is biased.
He said the government recently removed the Jamalpur DC after the EC requested the cabinet secretary to withdraw him.
"At the same time, all deputy commissioners have been asked to stay alert. This has been done in the interest of the upcoming election, the confidence of the people, the EC and the government," Kazi Habibul Awal said.
He added that EC has jurisdiction to send suchletters even before announcement of the election schedule.
DCs perform the role of returning officers during national elections.
The CEC said the commission is monitoring the election situation ahead of the upcoming 12th parliamentary polls.
The next election is likely to take place in the first week of January next year.
