The price of top-quality 22-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 840 per bhori on the local market.
Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) announced the price cut on Saturday (April 20).
The new price has been effective since 3.30pm today. This means each bhori (11.664g) of 22-carat gold will cost Tk 1,18,798.
A bhori of 21-carat gold will cost Tk 1,13,397 while the price of 18-carat gold is Tk 97,196.
The price of each bhori traditional gold has been set at Tk 78,242.
BAJUS said it was readjusting the prices considering a fall in the price of pure gold in the local market.
On April 18, BAJUS raised the prices on the local market, pushing them up to their highest in Bangladesh’s history.
This year, BAJUS raised the prices nine times. It ‘adjusted’ the prices 29 times last year.
