The matter of court will be settled in the court, says PM
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has once again clarified her position regarding the quota reform demand in government jobs, mentioning that the executive branch cannot take any action until the court issues a verdict.
The premier said it at a press conference at her official residence, Ganabhaban, on Sunday afternoon. The press conference was arranged on the recent China visit of the prime minister.
The premier said: “Protesters had no idea how a government branch works. They have no idea about our constitution.
“When the court gives a verdict, the executive authority has nothing to do. The matter of court will be settled in the court,” told Sheikh Hasina, the chief of the executive authority of government.
“Now they are protesting on the street, let their protest continue. But we will not allow any destructive move in the name of protest. If they attack the police or police vehicle, the law will take its course,” the PM continued.
She said that before starting the protest, they should have analyzed the results of recent exams.
The Awami League president stated her stance on the freedom fighter quota, asking, "If the grandsons of freedom fighters are not given this opportunity, will the grandsons of Razakars be entitled to this opportunity?"
Earlier the prime minister mentioned the recent BCS exam result and said: “In the last exam only two women candidates got Foreign Service cadre and only four women got police cadre.”
“Amid the protest of students in 2018 we suspended all quotas in government services. After that what results are coming? In an exam no police cadre was recruited from 23 districts,” told the premier.
Then the freedom fighters filed a case with the court now this is a matter of court and court will decide it, she said further.
