Ex-justice Manik to be transferred to jail following hospital release

Former Supreme Court Appellate Division Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik was discharged from Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital on Thursday afternoon following improvements in his physical condition.
The hospital authorities said that he would be transferred to the Sylhet Central Jail with utmost care as soon as possible.
Professor Shishir Chakraborty, chairman of the Medical Board, said former justice Manik was doing well and can move around quite normally.
“After a thorough examination, the medical board decided to discharge him from the hospital. He will be handed over to the prison authorities by the afternoon after all preparations are completed,” he added.
On August 25, Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik was severely injured in a physical assault at the Sylhet court premises and was admitted the hospital.
According to hospital sources, several injuries were found on his body, including a ruptured testicle.
Former justice Manik was apprehended by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) while attempting to cross into India through the Kanaighat (Dona) border in Sylhet.
He was handed over to Kanaighat police later.
