Minister orders to suspend Jaintiapur upazila family planning officer for not staying at workplace

Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen has ordered to suspension of Rentu Purkayastha, Jaintapur Upazila Family Planning Officer of Sylhet as the minister did not found him at his office on Wednesday morning.

The minister arrived in Sylhet in the morning on a two-day visit.

From Sylhet Osmani Airport, the health minister went directly to visit Sylhet's Jaintapur upazila health complex.

Going there, the minister ordered the immediate suspension of Upazila Family Planning Officer Rentu Purkayastha as he was not staying at the office.

Samanta Lal also told to reporters that the condition of the upazila health complex is not very good. The health complex is struggling with a manpower crisis. Besides, building renovation is also needed.

Due to the low presence of doctors there, strict instructions have been given to them, said the minister.

In this regard, Rentu Purkayastha said: “I was out of the workplace due to official work. I rushed to the office hearing the news that the minister was coming. But sir came before I had reached, so he ordered me not to come to the office. But I have met with sir.”

Back from Jaintapur, the minister visited the Biishwanath Upazila Health Complex in Sylhet.

After the visit, he said while talking to the journalists, if health care can be delivered to the marginal people in the rural areas, there will be no crowding in the medical colleges.

The minister said: “Medical colleges are not only service, but a place to study, we have to do research here, and we have to create that environment.”
