BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged Bangladesh’s newly formed interim government to swiftly create the conditions necessary for holding elections.

The senior BNP leader made the call on Monday (August 12) while paying respects at the grave of Arafat Rahman, nicknamed Koko, the younger son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, at Banani graveyard on the occasion of his 55th birth anniversary.

Fakhrul emphasized the need for prompt action to overcome current challenges and establish a truly liberated Bangladesh through the establishment of a government elected by the people.

He called on the public to remain vigilant against counter-revolutionary threats and to take all necessary steps to resist such conspiracies. "We expect the public to stand firm and take action against these plots.”

The BNP secretary general also paid deep respect to the souls of those martyred in the struggle for the “second independence” movement.
