Those arrested include Mohammad Zafar Alam (69), former Member of Parliament and President of Chokoria Upazila Awami League, Mohammad Sirajul Islam Babu (49), Vice President of the 54th Ward Awami League in Turag Thana, Mohammad Wares Sikdar (48), Vice President of the 35th Ward Awami League in Bangshal Thana, Mohammad Shahed Alam (40), Assistant Organizational Secretary of the Turag Thana Youth League, former central committee member of the Youth League Shahidul Haque Chowdhury Rana (54), Volunteer League leader and recent coordinator of the flash procession in Jatrabari, Zahidul Islam Tushar (30), and former General Secretary and President of the Turag Thana Volunteer League, Mohammad Rezaul Karim (47).
According to DB sources, Mohammad Zafar Alam was arrested at 3:30 PM on Sunday from the Dhanmondi area by a team from the DB-Ramna division. In a separate operation, a DB-Motijheel division team apprehended Mohammad Shahed Alam from the English Road area of Bangshal at around 3:15 PM. At approximately 1:15 PM, a team from the DB-Lalbagh division arrested Mohammad Wares Sikdar from the Bangshal area.
Additional arrests were made by other teams: a DB-Ramna team apprehended Shahidul Haque Chowdhury Rana from the Gopibagh area at 7 AM, while a DB-Uttara team arrested Mohammad Sirajul Islam Babu from the Kamarpura area at 6 PM. Later, at around 11:45 PM, a DB-Cyber team arrested Zahidul Islam Tushar from the Shonir Akhra area. At 12:30 AM, the same DB-Cyber team arrested Mohammad Rezaul Karim from Sector 18 in Uttara East.
The arrested individuals face specific charges filed at various police stations. They are accused of conspiring to destabilize the country, disrupt law and order, and create public panic by organizing flash processions at multiple locations in the capital. Legal action is currently being processed against them.
