On Saturday, Cardinal Silvano Maria Tomasi of the Holy Roman Church visited Professor Yunus at his hotel. Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, also called on the Chief Adviser the same day. In addition, Uruguay’s Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin paid a courtesy visit to Professor Yunus.

Earlier in the day, Professor Yunus attended the funeral mass of Pope Francis at St. Peter’s Square. Before and after the ceremony, he exchanged greetings with numerous world leaders, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, former US President Joe Biden, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and the Presidents of Kenya, Montenegro, Ecuador, East Timor, Iceland, and Portugal.

He also interacted with the King and Queen of Belgium, the Belgian Prime Minister, Prince Albert of Monaco, the Prince and Princess of Norway, the Prime Minister of Tunisia, the Prince and Princess of Liechtenstein, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and the Foreign Ministers of Sri Lanka, Bahrain, and Syria, among others. A former US Secretary of State was also among those he met.
