Recruitment aspirants for the post of assistant teacher in government primary schools have announced a grand rally on Sunday following two days of peaceful sit-in programs.

They made the announcement during a press conference on Thursday afternoon.

Jannatun Naim Sweety, Samia Akter, and Nawrin Akter outlined the program at the press conference. They said that they would not leave the protest site until their demands were met. The aspirants expressed their determination to secure their rights, even at the cost of their lives.

The press conference further said that the peaceful sit-in program would continue for the next two days. A grand rally would be held on Sunday to protest against police action on female teachers and to demand their appointment.

Condemning the attack on protesting teachers, the recruitment aspirants said that they had already received their appointment letters and undergone dope tests.

They added that those who did not secure jobs had filed a writ petition against the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, yet their recruitment was cancelled.

They demanded the immediate release of the detained teachers within an hour and warned that if their demands were not met, they would take extreme measures, including ending their lives on the streets.

They also insisted that the "unlawful and deceptive" verdict be revoked by Sunday to ensure their appointment.

On Thursday, to press home their demands, the aspirants staged a sit-in at Shahbagh in the capital, blocking traffic on the road leading from Science Lab to Matsya Bhaban.

Later, police charged batons to disperse the protesters and used water cannons. Reports indicate that several individuals fell ill due to the police action, and some were detained.
