In addition to the fatalities, three people have been reported injured.

The lightning strikes occurred during a Kalboishakhi storm between the morning and afternoon of Monday, April 28.

Netrokona:

In Kalmakanda, Netrokona, lightning struck unexpectedly, causing the deaths of Didarul Islam, a teacher at a Qawmi madrasa, and Arafat Mia, a 10-year-old madrasa student in the Maden area.

Arafat Mia died at around 6:30 AM while standing in front of his house in Tiyashri village, Tiyashri Union, Madan Upazila. He was the son of Abdul Salam of the same village.

Madan Upazila police station's Officer-in-Charge, Muhammad Firoz Hossain, stated that Didarul Islam was severely injured by a lightning strike at around 10 PM on Sunday. He was taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where he was declared dead by the attending doctor.

Comilla:

In separate incidents in Comilla, two farmers and two schoolboys lost their lives to lightning. The first fatalities occurred at around 10:30 AM in the fields next to the Korbanpur East Cemetery in Bangra Bazar Police Station, Muradnagar Upazila, where two farmers were struck.

The deceased have been identified as Jewel Bhuiyan (35), son of Jasim Uddin Bhuiyan from Deora village, and Nikhil Debnath (60), son of the late Bircharan Debnath from Korbanpur village.

Eyewitnesses stated that the two men were working in the field when the lightning struck, killing them instantly.

Later in the day, two schoolboys were killed by lightning in Poyalgacha village in the Khoshbagh Union of Barura Upazila. The victims were Fahad Hossain (13), son of the late Khokon Mia, and Saymon Hossain, the grandson of Abdul Barek Mia. Both were sixth-grade students at Bar Haripur High School.

Habiganj:

In Habiganj's Azhmiriganj and Baniachang, one farmer was killed, and three others were injured in lightning strikes on Monday, April 28, during a storm.

According to the district's disaster management officer, Azadur Rahman, the lightning struck early in the morning in the fields of Aariyamugur village in Azhmiriganj Upazila, killing Durbasha Das (35) on the spot. His brother Bhushan Das (34) and sister Sudhanya Das (28) were injured.

Kishoreganj:

In Kishoreganj, three people, including two farmers and one woman, were killed by lightning strikes. At around 8:30 AM, Fulasha Begum, a farmer, was struck by lightning while drying rice in the Shantiganj Haor in Mithamoin Upazila.

Two other farmers, Indrajit Das and Swadhin Mia, died at around 10 AM while harvesting rice in the Halalpur and Kolma Haor areas of Austogram Upazila.

Fulasha Begum was the wife of the late Ashraf Ali from Raniganj Keowarjor village, Mithamoin Upazila. Indrajit Das was the son of the late Jatindra Das from Halalpur village, Austogram Upazila, and Swadhin Mia was the son of Idris Mia from Kheyarpur village, the same Upazila.

Sunamganj:

In Shalla Upazila, Sunamganj, Riman Talukdar, a college student, was killed by lightning. The incident occurred at the Burigangal Haor near Atgaon village in the morning.

Riman Talukdar, a second-year degree student at Shalla Degree College, was from Atgaon village. Police and local sources confirmed that Riman was grazing cattle when the storm and lightning struck. Before he could reach a safe place, he was killed. A cow also died in the strike.

Shalla Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, confirmed the incident.
