He submitted his resignation on Tuesday.
After submitting his resignation letter to Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus at the state guesthouse Jamuna, Nahid Islam spoke to journalists.
Members of the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing were present with Nahid Islam at the time.
He said: “I have resigned from the advisory council. I have also stepped down from all other committees I was associated with.”
There had been ongoing discussions about his resignation over the past few days.
