He made the call today while being ceremonially inducted as the "Colonel of the Regiment" of the Bangladesh Infantry Regiment at the Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre in Rajshahi Cantonment.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) disclosed the update in a press release. The Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre, known as the Regiment of the Millennium, hosted the event with full military honours.

With this induction, Waker-Uz-Zaman officially assumed the role of the 7th Colonel of the Regiment, taking on the ceremonial guardianship of the Bangladesh Infantry Regiment as per military traditions.

Upon his arrival at the venue, he was given a formal reception and received a Guard of Honour from a smartly turned-out contingent of the regiment. Senior officers of the Bangladesh Infantry Regiment then presented him with the Colonel Rank Badge as part of the ceremony.

During the Annual Commanders' Conference, the army chief addressed the officers and commanders of the regiment, discussing its development, professional excellence, and contributions both at home and abroad.

He also paid tribute to the valiant soldiers of the Bangladesh Infantry Regiment who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War, acknowledging the heroism of all freedom fighters.

General Waker-Uz-Zaman praised the regiment's proud legacy and its crucial role in international peacekeeping, extending his congratulations to all its members. He urged them to uphold their dedication to national security with renewed commitment.

The ceremony was attended by senior military officials, officers, junior commissioned officers, other ranks of the regiment, and members of the media. The presence of the army chief at the Annual Commanders' Conference reinvigorated the regiment's members, reinforcing their resolve to serve the nation with unwavering dedication.
