The ministry said the shipment arrived under the Government-to-Government (G2G) Cash Purchase Agreement, based on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the United States and the Government of Bangladesh.

Under the agreement, Bangladesh will import a total of 440,000 tons of wheat from the U.S. The first consignment comprising 56,959 tons arrived in the country on October 25.

Officials have already begun testing samples of the newly arrived wheat on board the vessel.

The Food Ministry added that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the quick release of the wheat after the quality testing process is completed.
