Time Digital Report: Bangladesh Bodybuilding Federation handed a lifetime ban on Jahid Hasan on disciplinary grounds after the bodybuilder expressed his anger by kicking a gift box on the stage during the award-giving ceremony of the BBF National Bodybuilding Championship on December 23.
Jahid took part in the men’s physique 170-centimetre plus category of the competition and won silver, but he was not satisfied with the decision taken by an 11-member jury, including four international judges.
The 28-year-old Ansar team athlete, Jahid, received the silver medal and a gift box during the award-giving ceremony and walked aside from the podium before starting to kick the gift box, the video that he posted on social media showed.
Following the incident at the National Sports Council auditorium, the executive committee of the Bangladesh Bodybuilding Federation, in a meeting on Sunday, decided to ban him for life and also revoke his silver medal.
‘I deserved to be the first, but I was deprived. The judges are corrupt and were involved in fixing the game. As I could not control my temperament at that moment, I behaved like this in protest,’ Jahid, who won this title twice earlier in 2020 and 2012, told media on Monday.
When he was asked about the lifetime ban, Jahid said,’ I will go to court to have justice and I’m getting ready for it.’
‘Jahid won this event earlier, but this time he finished second. He could not accept it. After receiving the prize, he became furious and expressed his anger in a bad manner,’ said Bodybuilding Federation media committee chairman Nurul Islam Khan Naeem.
Federation’s general secretary Nazrul Islam said,’ Everyone at the auditorium became panicked due to his sudden outrage. As we, the executive committee, found it to be a serious violation of discipline, we decided to ban him for life.’
