He made these remarks at a huge election rally organized at the Mymensingh District Circuit House ground on Tuesday (January 27) afternoon. Earlier, at 4:03 pm, Tarique Rahman took to the stage with his wife Dr. Jobaida Rahman.
In the middle of his speech, Tarique Rahman introduced the candidates of the 24 parliamentary constituencies of Mymensingh division to the local people by making them stand on the stage. He started his speech by greeting the crowd present at 4:26 pm and ended his speech by asking for votes for the candidates of the 24 parliamentary constituencies of Mymensingh division at 4:52 pm. After that, his motorcade left for Gazipur.
Tarique Rahman said, they did not resign because they knew that the leader of the country, Begum Khaleda Zia, was cracking down on corruption with a strong hand. Those two ministers of the then government knew that Begum Zia did not tolerate corruption. All international statistics say that the country was immersed in corruption during the time of the runaway dictatorial government. But when Begum Khaleda Zia took charge in 2001, the country started to free itself from the grip of corruption.
He also said that the party that is blaming BNP today, the fact that two of their ministers remained in power from the first to the last day of the government, proves that they themselves are now lying.
Addressing the leaders and activists, Tarique Rahman said, "On the day of the election, after praying Tahajjud, everyone will go to the center and offer Fajr prayers. Then, stand in line. It will not be enough to just vote; the results of the election must be understood thoroughly so that no one can steal our votes."
Urging people to vote for the paddy sheaf symbol on the 12th, he said, "After the vote, we will meet again at the canal digging program. Everyone will bring a spade, and I will also be there that day."
Earlier, local leaders and activists welcomed him with slogans. At that time, they kept chanting slogans like 'Tarique Rahman's arrival, welcome' and 'Tarique Rahman, the Prime Minister of the future'. He was greeted with red roses by Mymensingh. After Tarique Rahman took the stage, local leaders demanded that he convert Tarakanda in Mymensingh into a municipality.
Before Tarique Rahman took the stage, the candidates of the 24 seats of Mymensingh division spoke. Among the candidates who spoke were Iqbal Hossain, Sultana Ahmed Babu, Motayer Hossain Babu, Mahmudul Haque, Faridul Kabir Talukder, Sirajul Haque, Mahbub Rahman Liton, Mostafizur Rahman Bablu, and Latfurzzaman Babar.
In their speeches, the candidates called on party leaders and activists to forget their differences and unite to ensure the victory of the paddy sheaf. They chanted slogans like, "The ship has gone to India, the paddy sheaf is in the mattress."
Lutfuzzaman Babar said, "We want to gift the 24 seats of Mymensingh division to Tarique Rahman and see him as the Prime Minister in the coming days."
It was observed on the spot that a large portion of the leaders and activists who came to the rally were middle-aged. They recalled that they had previously participated in the rally of the recently deceased Begum Khaleda Zia at this very ground.
