“The oath-taking is just a formality. As the people’s mayor, my responsibility now is to ensure adequate preparation for waste management before the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha,” Ishraque said in a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Friday morning.
He assured the residents of Dhaka that until the new mayor takes office in the northern part, he will also cooperate with the administration and sanitation workers there to fulfil their duties.
“In the south, I will approve the formation of a zone-based monitoring team by coordinating with former councillors and previous election candidates. By 4pm (on Eid day), we will take initiatives to create a comfortable environment. I will personally be with the sanitation workers in the south.”
