According to a post on the BNP’s verified Facebook page, Jaishankar met Tarique Rahman at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday (December 31) afternoon and formally handed over the condolence message on behalf of the Indian government.
The message expressed India’s deep respect and sympathy over the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, describing her as an uncompromising leader committed to safeguarding freedom and sovereignty, as well as a “mother of democracy” and a “symbol of courage and struggle.”
Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar arrived in Dhaka on a special Indian Air Force flight at 11:55 am on Wednesday. He is scheduled to depart Dhaka later in the afternoon.
