After the verdict was announced on Monday (November 17), he wrote in his verified Facebook post, "We believe that today's verdict is not only a trial for Sheikh Hasina's crimes, but also a gravestone for all forms of dictatorship on the soil of this country."
Hasina was sentenced to death on three separate charges and life imprisonment on two other charges. Former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was also sentenced to death and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, a key witness in the case, was given a five-year prison sentence.
