The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Thursday (November 13) confirming his appointment. According to the circular, the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government made the appointment earlier in the day.
The notification further stated that Professor Riaz will enjoy the status, salary, allowances, and other facilities equivalent to that of an Advisor while serving in his new role.
Professor Ali Riaz previously served as the Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission, which was responsible for reviewing and finalizing the recommendations submitted by six reform commissions on constitutional, electoral, administrative, and judicial reforms. The commission recently concluded its work by submitting its final report to the government.
His appointment is seen as a continuation of his active role in the reform process and his contribution to shaping the country’s post-uprising governance framework.
