Fahim made the remarks while speaking to reporters in front of Evercare Hospital in the capital on Saturday morning.

He alleged that the attack on Osman Hadi was carried out to obstruct the election process. “Through this attack, the Awami League has sent a message that if an election is held in this country, their existence will be threatened. That is why they are working to ensure that the election does not take place at all,” he claimed.

Fahim further criticized the law enforcement agencies, calling the police administration ineffective. “We are demanding the resignation of the Home Affairs Advisor due to his inaction and the immediate arrest of the terrorists involved,” he said. “If the attackers are not arrested within the next six hours, we will announce continuous programmes. We will not return home until the advisor is removed from his post. We do not want excuses we want justice.”

Speaking about Osman Hadi’s condition, Fahim said the victim is still alive and receiving blood transfusions. “His family is present with him, and they want him to be taken abroad for better treatment,” he added.

Osman Hadi was shot by unidentified miscreants in the capital’s Bijoynagar area on Friday afternoon. He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Evercare Hospital in the evening, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Providing an update on Hadi’s medical condition, Special Assistant to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (with the rank of State Minister), Professor Dr. Sayedur Rahman, said the bullet entered above Hadi’s left ear and exited through the right side, severely damaging his brain stem.

“This is considered a massive brain injury in medical science,” Dr. Sayedur Rahman said, adding that the next 72 hours are extremely critical. “He is currently in a very critical condition and on a ventilator. No new medical intervention will be undertaken at this stage, and doctors are unable to provide any assurance of recovery.”

Doctors have described the coming 72 hours as the most crucial period for Hadi’s survival.
