The revised prices were announced in a BAJUS statement on Monday (December 1) and will take effect from Tuesday (December 2).
According to the association, the adjustment was made due to rising prices of pure gold both in the local and international markets. BAJUS noted that the primary reason behind the increase is a sharp rise in global prices, where the international market rate has crossed $4,222 per ounce.
Under the updated pricing structure: 22-carat (best quality): Tk 212,145 per bhori, 21-carat: Tk 202,499 per bhori, 18-carat: Tk 173,572 per bhori, Traditional method gold: Tk 144,424 per bhori
Despite the rise in gold prices, silver rates remain unchanged: 22-carat silver: Tk 4,246 per bhori, 21-carat silver: Tk 4,047 per bhori, 18-carat silver: Tk 3,476 per bhori, Traditional silver: Tk 2,601 per bhori.
Gold prices have been fluctuating sharply in recent months, with continued increases driven by global economic uncertainties and higher demand in the international market.
