Despite an appeal from BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urging supporters to remain calm, demonstrations and disruptions persisted in various regions.

Clashes in Meherpur Leave Twelve Injured

In Meherpur-2 (Gangni), at least twelve people were injured during a clash between two rival groups protesting the non-nomination of district BNP president Javed Masud Milton. The confrontation took place around 10:00 am at Gangni Bazar.

Following the announcement of Amjad Hossain as the party’s candidate, Milton’s supporters blocked roads and burned tires. They claimed he had been active in the field for 17 years, supporting party activists during legal and political crises, while the nominated candidate had allegedly been absent.

Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge Bani Israel confirmed the tense situation, adding that police units had been deployed to restore order.

Chandpur Blockade Over Nomination Dispute

Supporters of BNP leader MA Hannan blocked the Faridganj-Raipur road in Chandpur-4 after he was denied nomination. Demonstrators burned tires and later vandalized a billboard of nominated candidate Lion Md. Harunur Rashid, causing severe traffic congestion. Police intervened in an attempt to disperse the crowd.

Protests Erupt in Magura

Four unions in Mohammadpur-Shalikha and Sadar upazilas staged demonstrations after Dhaka South Jubo Dal member secretary Rabiul Islam Nayan was not nominated for Magura-2. Protesters demanded that candidate Nitai Roy Chowdhury be replaced, calling him “ineligible.”

Demonstrations in Tangail

Although BNP announced candidates for seven of Tangail’s eight constituencies, supporters of Sultan Salahuddin Tuku rallied in favor of his nomination in Tangail-5. In Tangail-3 (Ghatail), supporters protested the exclusion of former minister Lutfar Rahman Khan Azad by blocking the Tangail–Mymensingh regional highway and burning tires.

Road Protest in Naogaon

In Naogaon-4 (Manda), leaders and activists held a rally at the Naogaon–Rajshahi regional highway after central BNP executive member MA Matin was denied nomination.

Railway Line Blockade in Mymensingh

Followers of upazila BNP convener Ahmed Tayebur Rahman Hiron blocked a train and barricaded railway tracks at Gouripur Railway Junction, demanding the replacement of nominated candidate Engineer M. Iqbal Hossain. Sleepers were thrown onto the tracks, halting the Dhaka-bound Haor Express and disrupting rail traffic.

Hartal in Satkhira

Supporters of Professor Dr. Md. Shahidul Alam observed a six-hour road blockade and hartal in Satkhira-3 (Ashasuni-Kaliganj). Demonstrators protested by burning tires, severely disrupting transportation and causing significant public suffering.

Cocktail Blasts Reported in Kushtia

Supporters of Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo Dal convener Sharif Uddin Jewel organized a protest march in Kushtia-1 after alleged attacks and vandalism by supporters of nominated candidate and former MP Reza Ahmed Bachchu Mollah. On Monday night, unidentified attackers reportedly detonated five cocktails outside the residence of a local Jubo Dal leader.

Highway Blockade in Madaripur

In Madaripur, followers of Sajjad Hossain Siddiqui Lavlu blocked the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway after he was denied nomination. The blockade was enforced in Panchchar, Shibchar upazila, around 7:30 pm on Monday.
