The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army confirmed this information in a statement on Thursday. The statement said that on November 18 and 19, i.e. Monday and Tuesday, joint forces of the army and police conducted operations in four districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa - Lakki Marwati, Mohammadan, Tank and Kurram. The highest number of terrorists were killed in Kurram district - 12.

The Pakistani military has renamed the TTP as Fitna al-Kharijite. The ISPR said in a statement that the recent operation was conducted based on intelligence inputs and that the slain terrorists belonged to two groups of Fitna al-Kharijite.

It is worth noting that since the establishment of the Taliban government in Afghanistan in 2021, there has been a dramatic increase in terrorist activity and attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, two Pakistani provinces bordering Afghanistan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is primarily a stronghold of the pro-Pakistan Taliban group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while Balochistan is home to the separatist group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). Both groups are banned in Pakistan.

The Islamabad-based think tank Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) said in a recent report that terrorism-related violence in Pakistan increased by 46 percent in the three months from June 1 to August 31, 2025, compared to any previous period.

According to CRSS data, there were 329 incidents of terrorism-related violence in Pakistan from June to August. At least 901 people were killed and 599 injured in these incidents.

And a report by Pakistan's Central Police Department says that from January to August this year, more than 600 terrorist attacks took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone. 79 police officers and personnel and 138 civilians were killed in these attacks.
