Meta's desktop app has been removed from the Apple App Store, as first reported by AppleInsider. Meta has warned users to familiarize themselves with alternative apps.
Windows users can use the Facebook desktop app, while Mac and Windows users can continue using Messenger in a web browser . Meta recommends saving chat history to secure storage and setting a PIN before switching to the web version.
Chat history will be available across all platforms when logged in to Facebook.com . Users can check whether 'Turn On Secure Storage' is enabled by going to Settings > Privacy and Safety > End-to-End Encrypted Chat.
However, this change may be a bit inconvenient for those who are used to using desktop apps.
