A two-member judicial panel led by Judge Md. Manjurul Basid, a member of the International Crimes Tribunal-2, issued the order on Tuesday (January 27). The other member of the panel is Judge Nur Mohammad Shahriar Kabir.
The arguments in the crimes against humanity case involving the killing of Abu Sayeed, a student of Rangpur Begum Rokeya University (BEROBI), the first martyr of the July 24 uprising, have concluded. The tribunal has said that the verdict in the case will be announced any day.

After the arguments of the defendants, Prosecutor Mizanul Islam responded on behalf of the prosecution today. Then the lawyers of the defendants responded in response. After refuting the arguments and counter arguments, the tribunal did not set a specific date for the verdict. As a result, the verdict in the case will be announced any day.
Prosecutors Mainul Karim, Faruk Ahmed, Shahidul Islam Sardar and others were present for the prosecution in the tribunal today. Lawyers Azizur Rahman Dulu, Abul Hasan and others were present for the accused.
Earlier, the prosecution's arguments began on January 21 and ended on January 25. The arguments were presented over three working days. In addition, CCTV footage of the main gate of the Berobi campus was shown to the tribunal, which was recorded during the murder of Abu Sayeed on July 16, 2024. In these videos, which were shown as evidence in the case, Prosecutor Mizanul identified who the accused were, where they were, or their activities. Finally, the prosecution demanded the maximum punishment for the 30 accused.
Then, state defense lawyers including lawyers Aminul Gani Tito, Azizur Rahman Dulu, Abul Hasan and others presented arguments for the accused. They sought the acquittal of their clients.
Meanwhile, the police produced six accused in the case from the jail to the tribunal this morning. They are ASI Amir Hossain, former proctor of Begum Rokeya University (BEROBI) Shariful Islam, constable Sujan Chandra Roy, Chhatra League leader Imran Chowdhury, Rafiul Hasan Russell and Anwar Parvez. However, 24 people, including former VC of BEROBI, Hasibur Rashid, are still absconding.
The formal trial of the case began with the prosecution's opening statement on August 27 last year. On August 6, Tribunal-2 framed formal charges against 30 accused. On July 22, four people were appointed as state defense lawyers for the absconding accused. The charges were taken into consideration on June 30. On June 24, the investigation agency officials submitted a report to the Chief Prosecutor's Office.
