After a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin on Sunday (November 2), NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari announced the decision, saying, “We are taking Shapla Kali for the greater good. There will be a tough fight between the paddy sheaf and the Shapla Kali in the next elections.”

Speaking about possible alliances, Patwari said the NCP plans to field candidates in all 300 parliamentary constituencies. “We do not want to let a single party dominate the parliament. In the future, Shapla Kali will be on the field alongside BNP and Jamaat,” he added.

On the issue of trust in the Election Commission, the NCP leader said, “We are taking the oath, but we are observing arbitrary behavior by the EC in many cases. We do not want to be part of BNP’s extortion, or of any form of extortion, terrorism, or corruption. No matter what happens, we will take part in the elections.”

He also expressed concern about ongoing political instability, saying, “Various conspiracies are being hatched around the elections. The polls might be delayed due to conflicting positions of BNP and Jamaat over the proposed referendum. Whether the referendum is held before or on election day, the NCP demands it to be free and fair.”

A delegation led by Nasiruddin Patwari attended the meeting with the CEC around 3 pm. The team included Joint Member Secretary Zahirul Islam Musa and Joint Convener Khaled Saifullah.
