He made these remarks at a press conference held at the NCP’s temporary central office in Bangla Motor, Dhaka, on Friday (November 14).
Patwari claimed that the interim government has failed to act responsibly regarding the July Charter. “The government has pleased all political parties through the Charter Implementation Order but has deceived the people. This order cannot lead to fundamental reforms,” he said.
He further stated that there are ambiguities in the package of four ‘Yes’ votes in the upcoming referendum and urged the government to clarify them. “Only after clarification will the NCP sign the July Charter. Although the charter has a legal basis, it lacks moral legitimacy,” he added.
Patwari also commented that despite having goodwill, the government is unable to carry out meaningful reforms due to the influence of two dominant political parties.
Addressing political parties directly, he urged them not to turn the reform process into a tool for electoral gain. “If you make this a vote bank issue, the people will reject you,” he warned.
