Debashish Karmakar, Additional Superintendent of Police of Gouripur Circle, said that clashes are still going on intermittently. However, the army and police are working on the ground to keep the situation under control.

Party sources said that BNP National Executive Committee member Engineer M. Iqbal Hossain has received the party nomination from Mymensingh-3 (Gouripur) constituency. Angry supporters of Ahmed Tayebur Rahman Hiron, who was denied nomination, attacked leaders and activists who had come to join Iqbal Hossain's rally on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day on Sunday. Angry supporters of Iqbal attacked and vandalized the stage of Hiron's women's rally. At least 20 people were injured in the chase, counter-chase and clash. The names of the injured were not immediately known.

Confirming the truth of the incident, BNP's nominated candidate Engineer M. Iqbal Hossain said, "A faction, taking a stand against the party's decision, is committing terrorist acts by attacking our leaders and activists. I demand that the party and the administration take strict action against those involved in this incident."

Meanwhile, on Saturday night, joint forces conducted a raid and arrested four people, including 40 Ramda, in connection with the attack on the office of District North Jubo Dal Joint General Secretary Md. Jahangir Hossain Pappu and the vandalism of two motorcycles.

Despite several attempts to contact Upazila BNP convener Tayebur Rahman Hiron on his mobile number to inquire about this matter, he did not pick up the phone.

However, Hiron's supporters alleged that Iqbal's supporters attacked the stage of our women's rally and caused extensive vandalism. Many of our workers were injured in this.

Gauripur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Didarul Islam said that the situation is currently very calm. However, the joint forces are on alert to keep any situation normal.
