Election Commission (EC) sources said both petitions were submitted on Friday (January 9) evening at the permanent appeal booth set up in front of the Election Commission building in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Officials confirmed that the applications from both sides were filed within the stipulated deadline. Following scrutiny, the relevant appellate authority of the Election Commission will hear the petitions and make a final decision.
According to EC sources, similar appeals and applications seeking cancellation of nominations of BNP candidates have been filed in several constituencies across the country, including Comilla-4. In a number of cases, rival candidates have raised objections against each other’s nominations.
The Election Commission has scheduled hearings on appeals and related petitions from January 10 to January 18. The hearings will be held at the auditorium (Basement-2) of the Election Building in Agargaon, with the commission planning to hear an average of around 70 cases per day.
