He made these remarks at a press conference organized at the party's local office in Fakirapul, under Dhaka-8 constituency, on Tuesday (January 27).

Nahid Islam alleged that Nasiruddin Patwari was stopped when he went to Habibullah Bahar College as an invited guest today. He said, "Bricks and stones were thrown at him during this time. Yesterday, BNP leaders and activists also attacked Ariful Islam Adib, the candidate for Dhaka-18 constituency."

Nahid Islam warned, "If there is a blow, there will be a counter blow. If eggs are thrown at the candidates of one party, the other party's candidates will also be hit. We do not want such an environment. However, if the Election Commission and the police administration play a silent role, then we will do what we have to do."

The NCP convener also alleged that in the past few days, attacks have been carried out on women workers of Jamaat-e-Islami, one of the 11-party alliances, in six-seven districts of the country. He said, "A special party and alliance are taking advantage of the silence of the Election Commission and the police by violating the code of conduct, which is destroying the level playing field."

Pointing to BNP, Nahid Islam said, "If you want to remove your opponent from the field in a terrorist manner like the Awami League, then what is your difference with the Awami League? You are shouting the slogan 'Joy Bangla' on stage to get votes for the Awami League. But remember, in post-uprising Bangladesh, the people will not accept any terrorist activities."

Reminding BNP of the failure of the 2018 elections and the October 28 movement, Nahid said, "You could not enter the field in 2018, you could not even stand for three minutes on October 28. We showed sympathy for you then. But now you cannot bear criticism. You call Nasiruddin Patwari a tyrant; but on February 12, the people will decide through ballots who is a tyrant and who is a gangster."

At the press conference, Nasiruddin Patwari alleged that he and his party wanted to campaign in a peaceful and democratic environment, but bricks, stones and eggs were thrown at them after they went to Habibullah Bahar College.

"Our brothers were repeatedly stabbed, punched and kicked in the presence of the police," he said. "Ice was thrown at our female members, resulting in one of them needing four stitches on her head."

Nasiruddin Patwari named Mirza Abbas' nephew Aditya as the mastermind behind the attack. He also claimed that former Habibullah Bahar College Chhatra Dal convener Asaduzzaman Masud, former member Shahin Uddin Mallick and former joint convener Sharif directly led the attack.

He further said, "Mirza Abbas hired terrorists through his nephew Aditya to carry out this attack on us. I demand justice from the countrymen."

The candidate sharply criticized the role of the Election Commission (EC), alleging, "The EC is working for a specific party and has left the candidates in the open field without providing adequate security." He said that the EC has resorted to corruption by approving 50 loan defaulters and dual citizens as candidates before the voters could exercise their voting rights, which is shameful for the country.
