After receiving the nomination, Mirza Fakhrul expressed his gratitude to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, and all party leaders and activists in a Facebook post on Tuesday (November 4).

In the emotional post, he reflected on his long political journey, personal sacrifices, and family struggles, revealing that this will be his last election.

He wrote, “By the grace of Almighty Allah, BNP has nominated me for the Thakurgaon-1 seat! I express my deepest gratitude to Begum Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman, and all party leaders. I also sincerely thank all my teammates who have stood by me throughout my life.”

Mirza Fakhrul reminisced about his political beginnings, saying, “We who have been in politics all our lives, who have gone to jail, each have our own story stories many do not know. When I decided to return to politics in 1987, my two daughters were very young and studying in Dhaka. My wife, much younger then, was shocked she knew what an uncertain and difficult life awaited us.”

He continued, sharing a personal memory: She took our daughters to school and to the doctor’s hand in hand. I still remember when my eldest daughter had to undergo surgery I was in the car all night, on the way to Dhaka, just to be by her side. It was heartbreaking; I prayed in the mosque while she was in the operation room.

The veteran politician concluded his post with a heartfelt message to party members, This election is my last election. Those who did not receive nominations should have faith Insha Allah, the party will entrust you with responsibility and honor. Pray for me, and pray for every leader and activist of our party. Together, we will continue to stand strong and work for the people, Insha Allah.

Following his post, Mirza Fakhrul’s remarks have sparked renewed enthusiasm and discussion among BNP leaders, activists, and supporters in Thakurgaon and across the country. Local political observers say his declaration has further intensified the election atmosphere in the region.
